Unknown Tune Page 32
This is a tune from David R. Hamblen
(1809 – 1893), also known as “Boys of
Oak Hill” and “Twin Sisters.” The earliest
printing in America is in Knauff’s
Virginia Reels (1839) under the name of
“The Two Sisters.” It is unclear whether
it was originally an Irish tune or
one sent to Ireland from America. We
chose to include a hammered dulcimer
because it was being paired with
fiddle in New York and Great Lakes
area before 1850. (Gifford) Chris
