The Rose In The Mountain
This tune comes from John Salyer
(1892-1952) of Magoffin Co., KY, recorded
in 1941 at home on the kitchen
table by his sons, Glen and Grover.
It may have originally been a march,
but John plays it as a very fast breakdown.
The first part may be related to
“Rose On the Mountain” in Knauff’s
Virginia Reels (1839). (Titon) Mark
Uilleann Pipes and Chris fiddle: adae.
