Fall Of The Mountain
This was collected from Lee
Hammons (1886-1980) . Kerry Blech
tells me he was not kin to the Hammons
family musicians (Edden, Burl, Maggie
and Sherman) but lived close by and knew
many of their tunes. Kerry suspects this
“Fall of the Mountain” was born when
Lee was thinking of Edden’s “Falls of
Richmond,” but could not quite remember
it. Lee had an archaic style and repertory.
